OAL Vision Clinics- Over 3,000 pairs of eyes inspected

The morning started with 100 Liberian’s waiting patiently in a large open room located smack in the middle of a village in Montserrado County. All with tickets in hand that we handed out to those in need the day before. Outside of that room waited another 100 people praying that we would have the time to inspect their eyes and possibly fit them for prescription glasses. This is just one description of the many vision clinics we have hosted around Liberia.

Our primary focus has always been orphaned children, but as an organization, we stay open to let the Spirit work through us anyway it seems fit, so we have added vision clinics into our schedule at least one trip per year.

Since we have started, we have inspected over 3,000 pairs of eyes and have distributed nearly as many prescription glasses to Liberian people of all ages. This simple clinic our team sets up and facilitates over 1-2 days is quite literally life-changing. The smiles and expressions we have witnessed when someone sees clearly for the first time are incredibly emotional and humbling.

The stories that come along with the individuals are nothing short of astonishing. Some walk over 10 KM just for a chance to get some eye drops. Others haven’t seen clearly since the rebels raided and stole their glasses during the war. And Most have never had a pair of glasses to begin with so reading their Bible brings extreme difficulty and strain.

Thanks to your contributions, today, one less mother is struggling to cook around her pitch dark hut at night. There is one less young man with blurry vision as he travels to a from work on his motorbike. And today, one less Pastor is straining to see the Word of God as he prepares his message for the village.

Thank you for supporting OAL and helping the Liberians to see more clearly. As always, pray for us.

Love in action,

Team OAL
